Over the weekend, the Great Yarmouth Race Course became host to Great Yarmouth Comic Con. From celebrity guests Q&A's to Disney Princess Sing Alongs, handcrafted goods, and backdrops and props to pose with, there was something to keep all amused.
The popular event gives fans a place to be truly themselves and celebrate their love of films, games, television shows and comics together.
One of the first things I noticed on arrival, was how happy everyone looked to be there. I was only there Sunday and although it was a little quiet, it gave stall holders time to breathe after a chaotic Saturday!
Phillip Welsby, organiser of Great Yarmouth ComiCon, was delighted with how the weekend had gone and mentioned that "Saturday was our busiest day ever" and that he actually met a attendee who had flown over from America just to meet Vincent Regan (star of One Piece and 300), whilst a different attendee had flown in from Denmark just to meet Jemma Redgrave (star of Dr Who) at the event. It shows the impact that events can have, and how far word can spread.
Alongside guest panels and autograph signings, there were also local businesses, artists and writers displaying their wares and passion. I had a chat with Martin Ferguson, a local author of a Young Adult fantasy book series, this was his first ComiCon and he had sold all the physical copies of his first book 'Shadows and Secrets' on the Saturday.

In the main arena, there were Wrestling performances by World Association of Wrestling and the Vander Super Heroes Wheel of Death Show. For those looking for more indoor activities, there was a room dedicated to Retro games and a section for Fantasy Map Making which I thought was a lovely touch.

On the lawn, they had Smart Radio which had people dancing and later on, a performance by Leon Mallett which drew a good crowd. During the performance yesterday, Dino2Hire were strolling through the crowds with their dinosaur 'Squirt' squirting water over the crowds which definitely caused some amusement.

One of the highlghts for me was meeting Lauren Barrand, the character actor for Paddington Bear. She has also appeared in Willow, Harry Potter, Nanny McPhee and many other roles. This was Lauren's first ever ComiCon appearance and only had positive things to say about it! One of the things Lauren was most struck by was how accepting the event was and how people were encouraged to be themselves.

Now of course, you cannot go to a ComiCon without seeing some brilliant cosplays and this event was no exception! Here are some of my favourite cosplays from the event:

It was a great event, well done to all of the organisers and thank you to everyone who chatted with me while I was there!
