Customising Clothes

Updated: Mar 10, 2022

Hello all,

I hope you are having a pleasant weekend and enjoying the sunshine.

As you all know, I am very passionate about sustainable clothing and thought I would show you one of my recent projects.

For many years, I have been collecting badges and patches in hopes of finding a suitable jacket to customise and finally found it!

My favourite person and I were at a Vintage Weigh and Buy in Norwich and I had selected a few items when we spotted the jackets and wandered over, he took it upon himself to find me a jacket and within ten minutes had found a jacket for me!

The jacket was originally from the brand 'Diesel' which we later realised are a good brand so we were quite pleased!

One of my favourite parts of customisation is going through the various bags of treasures and selecting pieces. However, many of the pieces in the bags have been taken from old garments and bags so it was like taking a trip through memory lane. As mentioned previously, my family encourages sustainability so there are all sorts of things to sort through!

I enjoy a multitude of styles but one of my favourite combinations is combining creepy and cute styles together so that is the angle I went for!

As well as showing off my jacket, I also put together a few outfits to demonstrate how it can be worn!

The first outfit is complied of items found at Weigh and Buy events in Norwich, the skirt is one of my favourites!

Here we have a close up of the multitude of badges that I just had to add, teamed with a fabulous crop top I found at Orlando in their local artistic shop.

Here is what people will see from behind, a tad naughty I know but I just couldn't resist sewing them onto the back!

For the third and final outfit, I teamed the jacket with my favourite cat top from 'What Is Hip', an utterly brilliant retro-inspired shop from Gorleston, they have all sorts of wonderful clothes and accessories. I would highly recommend them, I will even go as far as to say that they are my favourite shop in Gorleston! As well as clothing, they also have a selection of vintage jewellery and mid-20th-century vintage homeware. When it is safe to do so, please do pay them a visit https://www.facebook.com/WhatisHipGLSTN/ .

My fabulous Dr Marten's also came from Gorleston, sadly the shop is no longer but I thought it worth a mention.

Thanks for reading and let me know what you think of the jacket!

P.s, my cats really are cuter than most people!
