Last Friday I watched Red Wine Talk perform at Epic Studios in Norwich and what a great night it was!
Red Wine Talk have been together since 2018 and ever since have been making waves in the Norwich music scene, last year they headlined a stage at Latitude Festival and have performed to sold-out venues around the UK on previous tours.
Last Friday they headlined a gig presented by Scruff of the Neck management. The gig started with Amelia Stephanedies & The Lovefools who delivered some fun pop songs and covers, reminiscent of Lilly Allen. I particularly enjoyed their song "Fake".
Next up we had The Lanes who are also very popular within the Norwich scene with their energetic alternative rock songs that helped keep the energy flowing and the crowds forming, especially their song "Take The Hint".

Red Wine Talk opened with "Welcome to the Halfway House" taken from their 2021 album "The Beauty and Elegance of Drinking Alone".
Thus followed a selection of great energetic eighties inspired rock songs (and some covers) including a debut performance of their new single "Anti Romance" which hasn't yet been officially recorded but I am sure it will go down a hit when released.
I had a chat with lead singer Edward Brookes and he was delighted to be at Epic Studios and excited to perform "I am very humbled by the local Norwich community all coming out to see my little band".
The final song of the evening was "The Deep Blue Sea Between Us", a touching tribute to a close friend to the band who sadly committed suicide last year. It was beautifully performed and there were undercurrents of positivity, despite the theme of bereavement and it was a lovely way to end the evening.
Overall, it was a brilliant gig and great to see people supporting independent Norwich bands and venues.
