Last Sunday, Norwich was treated to a visit by Nekrogoblikon, the Goblin-fronted Melodic Death metal band, alongside support from Grief Ritual, Party Cannon, and Allegaeon as part of their current UK tour.
Grief Ritual launched the evening off with their heavy riffs and powerful growls. They certainly drew a crowd and used their platform to talk about LGBTQ+ issues, which is lovely to see, especially in this current climate.

The fun continued with Party Cannon, an amusing band that combines bright and chaotic colourful masks with amusing signage, humour, and of course, heavy guitar use! They requested circles, and the audience happily complied.

The penultimate band was ALLEGAEON, I enjoyed their combination of clean vocals interspersed with growls; they had an impressive range, and I think they were a great choice for the penultimate band.

Last up was, of course, Nekrogoblikon! As their huge inflatable goblin head loomed on stage, the crowds were entertained by various 'meme' songs. John Goblikon (Goblin frontman) was the first on the stage, and it is fair to say, that Goblin knows how to wriggle his hips (and dab). Elvis himself would be impressed.

From the moment they started, they had the crowd hooked. I was particularly delighted with the crowd participation and the pure energy that was flowing around the stage.
A particular highlight for m was seeing them perform 'No One Survives', which was the song that introduced me to them! John Goblikon was utterly filthy and everything I hoped he would be.

Overall, I won't headbang for just any band, but I will for Nekrogoblikon, they know what they are doing, and I continue to be a big fan.
