Gorleston Library currently have an exhibition celebrating 'Local and Community History Month'.
The exhibition is on until Friday 16th May and features local history displays. Some of the highlights include items from the Ecclestone Collection, the Gorleston Library Archive Collection, and information about the Augustinian Priory. It is open from 10am-4pm in the Carnegie room upstairs.

The exhibition held a special event on Tuesday 13th May to celebrate the fiftieth year anniversary of the new Gorleston library opening, which was hosted by the Gorleston Library friends and featured a range of talks.
The exhibition was organised by Library and Information Assistant Aidan Keenan with contributions from Gorleston On Sea Heritage Group. Aidan put this exhibition together to showcase the importance of accessible history exhibitions and the importance of promoting Gorleston's history, especially to youngsters who are "often encouraged to go elsewhere after college" and may not realise what a cultured history Gorleston has.

Alongside this, there is also a permanent exhibition featuring posters, a beautiful stained glass portrait of William Shakespeare, photographs and other local artifacts from the original Gorleston library. The exhibition was compiled by Gorleston Library Friends with assistance from Gorleston On Sea Heritage Group.
