On this fine Bank Holiday Friday, Lilly the dog and I popped along to try the new cafe 'Horatio's based at Sailors Parade on Marine Parade in Great Yarmouth.
To begin, I am very pleased to see an old building being used, I always thought it was a shame when the Tourist Information Centre closed and nothing replaced it.
However, thanks to Kim O'Brien and Mark Salter, the building is now in use again!

Today was the official opening day, Kim and Mark only found out on Tuesday that they had permission to open, so they had an intense couple of days but everything came together in the end. As Lilly and I were sat there, people were coming in and tables were filling up so I think opening today was a good idea.
Horatio's offers a range of foods, from a classic English breakfast through to ratatouille, salads, ploughman's and afternoon tea. I am pleased to see an eating place on the seafront that offers more than just fish and chips, I like chips but more variety is appreciated. On this occasion, I only had beans on toast, but I will certainly be going back to try more of their main meals.

I must make a special mention of the delightful looking handmade cakes and chocolates that were on offer. Kim O'Brien actually travelled to Malta to study chocolate making and plans to offer chocolate masterclasses as part of future events. Other future plans include tarot evenings, quizzes and festive meals.
Horatio's are open seven days a week from 8.30am to 6pm and I look forward to visiting again.
