How to find clothing bargains at a low price

Updated: Sep 20, 2021

When trying to be more sustainable it can be difficult to find cheap clothing on a budget, but with this guide, you can help save the planet and find a bargain! Reuse

  1. Take a look through your wardrobe, is there anything in there that you could customise? It is incredible the difference that can be made by a crop or addition of a patch or badge! As an example (see below), this top was transformed after a crop and the leftover fabric was used for cleaning rags!

Donating and selling clothes

2. Continue to rifle through your wardrobe and find the pieces you haven't worn in years or that no longer fit (it happens to us all!) and see if they are suitable for a charity shop or even selling! Vinted is a good place to sell clothing: https://www.vinted.co.uk/invite/vintagecatmama If not suitable for selling, maybe they could be reused as clothing patches or if there are unusual designs/images, they could be saved for future crafts?

Make a list

3. Write down some ideas of what you would like to find or take a look at styles that you would like to try and pick out one style/ideal item you would like to find.

Charity Shops

4. Visit some charity shops such as ‘Break’ in Gorleston; ‘New-U’ in Norwich (this is actually a swap shop, but wanted to give it a mention) and 'Sue Ryder' in Great Yarmouth. Don’t forget carboot sales either, I have picked up plenty of bargains at Julie’s Carboot!

Online Shopping

5. For those who understandably would rather avoid shopping in-person, many charity shops now have accounts on Ebay and as previously mentioned, Vinted is good for finding unusual pieces!

Happy bargain hunting!
